Senior Search Engineer (Java & GCP)
We are looking for a skilled Mid/Senior Search Engineer to join an engineering team working with a major international retail brand. In this role, you will focus on building, optimizing, and deploying highly relevant, federated, and personalized search experiences using cutting-edge search technologies and data-oriented Java services.
Essential functions
- Execute technical implementations using Apache Solr and Lucidworks Fusion functionality.
- Build and deploy robust integrations connecting search engines to a variety of data and content sources.
- Work side-by-side with digital product owners and software engineers to deliver personalized, high-relevance search results.
- Optimize and tune search queries, indices, and pipelines to continuously improve search accuracy and latency.
- Manage data-intensive backend components and RESTful APIs within a cloud ecosystem.
Qualifications
- Solid experience with Java (data-oriented backend engineering) and Spring Boot.
- Hands-on expertise with enterprise search platforms: Apache Solr and Lucidworks Fusion (including Query Pipelines).
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proficiency in building and consuming REST APIs.
- Working knowledge of Apache Spark for data processing.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Would be a plus
- Familiarity with SearchStax.
- Experience in high-scale retail or e-commerce search solutions.
