We are seeking a UI Technical Designer to turn UX/visual direction into implementable, production-ready UI specifications and prototypes for Unreal Engine 5. This role bridges design and engineering by defining flows, interaction behavior, navigation rules, and component standards that ship reliably across platforms and input methods.
Responsibilities
- Define UI flows, user journeys, and interaction models for in-game screens and features, and produce clear, implementable specs
- Build and maintain a scalable UI component system, including patterns, components, variants, and states, that supports consistent implementation
- Author detailed behavior rules covering navigation/focus order, back behavior, input handling expectations, error/empty/loading states, and edge cases
- Collaborate daily with client engineers and UI artists to ensure designs are feasible, performant, and consistent in-engine
- Support iteration and polish through review of implementations, provide actionable feedback, and adjust designs based on technical constraints and playtest/QA findings
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with a strong UI/UX foundation and proven experience shipping digital products or game UI
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout, reusable libraries, and handoff-ready documentation
- Ability to create implementation-ready documentation such as annotated layouts, interaction notes, state diagrams, and acceptance criteria
- Familiarity with UMG concepts, including layout, anchors, scaling, and widget states/animations, sufficient to design within engine realities
- Understanding of focus-based navigation and multi-input requirements, including controller and keyboard/mouse
- Experience designing responsive UI for multiple resolutions/aspect ratios and safe-area considerations
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Nice to have
- Experience with UI systems/framework conventions used in Unreal, such as screen stacks, activatable views, and common navigation patterns
- Experience with localization-aware design, including string expansion, truncation rules, and dynamic layouts
- Understanding of accessibility/readability considerations such as contrast, font sizing, and couch-distance UI
- Experience working on live products with rapid iteration and frequent releases
