Room 8 Studio is looking for a proficient and experienced Project Lead with expertise in stylized character creation and a strong background in game development.
The ideal candidate is a true leader who upholds high-quality and style standards and understands both the technical and artistic constraints of the character creation pipeline.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Lead within a Stylized 3D Character Art team in a game development environment;
- Relevant portfolio with examples of work in the corresponding direction;
- Ability to manage and review the quality of the team’s output, ensuring it meets artistic and technical standards;
- Skills in mentoring, guiding, and resolving artistic and technical challenges within the project team, as well as providing clear, constructive feedback;
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work in dynamic, creative environments;
- Driving projects from setup to success—building strong client communication, taking initiative to optimize workflows, and ensuring smooth, efficient delivery;
- Advanced English level (written and spoken) for seamless collaboration and documentation;
- High-poly sculpt in Zbrush;
- Character topology for animation;
- Excellent knowledge of anatomy;
- Experience in working with hard surface;
- Ability to create UV mapping and texture baking (normal, AO, etc.);
- Experience working as a Project Lead;
- High standards of work quality and artistic taste
Would be a plus
- Experience with game engines;
- Experience in creating creatures;
- Solid understanding of the rigging and animation processes;
- Drawing skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead stylized character art projects, with the opportunity to focus solely on art direction full-time;
- Execute quality control for the work produced by the team of artists;
- Support the team in solving artistic and technical challenges;
- Organize task distribution and workflow across the project team;
- Develop clear technical specs and art guides to align output with project goals;
- Create efficient UV maps and texture bakes (normal, AO, etc.);
- Texture assets using Substance Painter (including hand-painting when required by the project).
