Project description
Global leader in network test, measurement, and assurance solutions for communications networks
The team operates Scrum as defined at scrumguides.org: Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Work is tracked in Jira; documentation lives in Confluence. Code quality is enforced through SonarQube continuous inspection and a Jenkins CI/CD pipeline. The team uses Claude Code (Anthropic's AI coding assistant) as a standard development tool. Everyone on the team — including test specialists — is expected to take test automation seriously and contribute to overall coverage.
OTDR domain knowledge is not expected at hire. The team provides structured onboarding, including training materials and recorded presentations on optical fiber and OTDR concepts.
You will be a technical leader on the OTDR development team, driving major features from architecture through delivery on production embedded hardware. You will own epics end-to-end, set the technical quality bar, mentor junior and mid-level developers, and collaborate with the Product Owner and Scrum Master on estimates, acceptance criteria, and risk. Deep hands-on experience with C++/Qt5 in an embedded Linux environment is essential.
Responsibilities
- - Lead design and implementation of major epics across the full stack: hardware drivers, measurement controllers, broker/publisher system, configuration middleware (DBus / Python), QML/Qt Quick UI
- Define and uphold architecture patterns, coding standards, and testing strategy for the team
- Lead code reviews; ensure pull requests meet the quality bar before merging
- Drive unit test coverage (Google Test) and functional test quality (Python/pytest)
- Build, deploy, debug, and validate features on embedded instrument hardware; engage with platform and driver teams on integration issues
- Contribute to and improve Jenkins CI/CD pipeline jobs and SonarQube quality gates
- Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies; contribute to backlog refinement, epic splitting, and acceptance criteria definition
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers; model professional engineering practice and review discipline
- Maintain technical design documentation in Confluence
SKILLS
Must have
- - 7+ years of professional C++ development; C++17 expertise (RAII, move semantics, templates, STL)
- Extensive Qt5 experience: QtCore, Qt Remote Objects, Qt Quick/QML, CMake integration
- Embedded Linux development: cross-compilation, sysroot setup, on-device debugging (gdb/gdbserver)
- Solid understanding of distributed software architecture patterns: Publisher/Subscriber, MVVM, IPC-based client/server separation
- Experience with DBus or equivalent inter-process communication
- Demonstrated leadership in code review and technical mentoring
- Automated test authorship: Google Test (C++) and Python/pytest
- Hands-on CI/CD experience (Jenkins or equivalent); understands pipeline configuration and failure diagnosis
- Strong communication skills in English; able to work across teams and time zones
- Hands-on experience and enthusiastic about the use of AI tools
Nice to have
- Yocto build system experience
- Docker-based build and test environment setup
- SonarQube or Coverity experience
- Direct experience with Qt Remote Objects architecture
- Background in optical networking, OTDR, or test & measurement equipment
- Experience delivering to external customers in a quality-critical embedded domain
