Senior Platform Engineer, API & Gateway - Data & AI Platform

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer, API & Gateway to converge distributed Data and AI platform services into one coherent interaction layer. This is a hands-on implementation role where you drive the Data & AI platform gateway initiative and build the APIs and SDKs on top of platform services that give engineers a single, coherent way to consume everything our platforms offer. You engineer the orchestration, API integration, IAM, and routing that turn separate services into one product surface with client libraries that make it easy to build on. You work in a high talent density domain of AI Engineers, alongside platform, security, and product teams, so what you ship directly contributes to the delivery of the client's priority AI initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Data & AI platform gateway initiative from design through implementation
• Build APIs and SDKs on top of distributed platform services to provide a single, coherent consumption layer
• Engineer orchestration, API integration, and routing that converge independent services into one product surface
• Front platform services at the gateway level to remove direct fragmented access and enforce consistent routing
• Implement authorization and routing at the gateway so downstream services remain simple
• Establish RBAC/ABAC least-privilege models, managed/workload identity, and token flows with delegation
• Deliver service-to-service integration across a multi-cloud footprint, including private endpoints
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, test-first delivery practices, clear service contracts, and documentation
• Instrument the gateway and API layer with metrics, traces, and logs for end-to-end observability
• Debug and tune production systems using observability signals
• Collaborate with platform, security, and product teams to align on priority AI initiatives
• Travel quarterly to the Netherlands for business purposes

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in platform or software engineering
• Expertise in Python, with proficiency in FastAPI, REST/async design, versioning, and contract testing
• Hands-on experience building APIs and SDKs on top of distributed services
• Capability to translate a fragmented service landscape into one coherent product
• Expertise in gateway orchestration, API integration, and consistent routing across independent services
• Knowledge of RBAC/ABAC least-privilege models, managed/workload identity, and token flows with delegation
• Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP, including private endpoints and multi-cloud service integration
• Proficiency in CI/CD and automation tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with observability stacks such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana
