Room 8 Studio is currently looking for a proficient and experienced Team Lead who specializes in photorealistic hairstyle creation (grooming) and has a strong background in game development.
The ideal candidate is a leader who can maintain high standards of quality and style, with knowledge of the technical and artistic constraints of the character creation process.
In your role as a Team Lead, you will be responsible for supervising and assisting a team of skilled character artists in bringing concept designs to life by creating unique personas, animals, and creatures that will inhabit various worlds. You will be able to provide guidance and support to your team, overcome any challenges that may arise, and offer constructive feedback with ease.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Lead or Team Lead within 3D Grooming Art team in a game development environment;
- Ability to manage and review the quality of the team’s output, ensuring it meets artistic and technical standards;
- Skills in mentoring, guiding, and resolving artistic and technical challenges within the team, as well as providing clear, constructive feedback;
- A refined artistic eye and commitment to high-quality visual standards;
- Comprehensive industry knowledge of current pipelines, tools, and trends;
- Strong expertise in full-cycle character creation, including high-poly sculpting (ZBrush), SubD modeling (3ds Max/Maya), topology for animation, cloth simulation (Marvelous Designer), anatomy, UV mapping, texture baking, and texturing (Substance Painter);
- Upper-Intermediate+ English level (written and spoken) for seamless collaboration and documentation.
Would be a plus
- Experience with game engines;
- Proven ability to create creatures;
- Solid understanding of rigging and animation pipelines;s;
- Strong foundational drawing skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop 3D Realistic Characters Sub-division and lead projects in this direction;
- Execute quality control of the work of artists in the team;
- Assist and solve problems in the team that are related to the artistic and technical side of the project;
- Organize the work of the team within the project and specific tasks;
- Create technical specifications and guides;
- Build a team with the support of a strong recruiting department, participating in the hiring process as a technical interviewer and reviewer;
- Develop a portfolio;
- Estimate projects and take part in test projects;
- Create high-poly and low-poly models of photoreal characters for games on given concepts;
- Create optimal UV mapping and texture baking (normal, AO, etc.);
- Work with texturing in Substance Painter (hand-paint texturing, in case of the project requirements).
