Python Developer with AWS AgentCore, Agent Gateway

About the Position

We are looking for a Python Developer with experience in backend engineering, API implementation, and async communication patterns. You will be involved in building agent integration flows, implementing REST endpoints, and supporting agent to agent communication scenarios.

About the Project

This opportunity is centered on building and integrating backend services for agent to agent communication. The work includes implementing protocol wire formats, agent card registration, target configuration, and async event driven flows. Project nickname: Agent Gateway

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Python for agent communication flows
• Implement REST API endpoints and routing logic
• Integrate AWS AgentCore Runtime and Gateway features, including Agent Card registration and target configuration
• Develop A2A agent invocation flows using caller and target template integration
• Implement the A2A protocol wire format using JSON RPC 2.0
• Support Server Sent Events (SSE) task lifecycle events and push notification flows
• Author Agent Card JSON schemas and implement the /.well-known/agent.json endpoint

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Python or Go backend engineering
• Experience with API integration and routing
• Experience with agent based or microservice communication patterns
• Experience with REST API implementation, including building and maintaining endpoints
• Understanding of asynchronous and event driven architectures, including SSE and webhooks
• Experience with Python, including asynchronous programming
• Experience with the AgentCore SDK and REST APIs
• Experience with AWS AgentCore Runtime and Gateway
• Understanding of A2A agent invocation patterns
• Understanding of the A2A protocol wire format, including JSON RPC 2.0, SSE task lifecycle events, and push notifications
• Experience authoring Agent Card JSON schemas and implementing the /.well-known/agent.json endpoint
