Observability Engineer with New Relic

About the Position

We are looking for an Observability Engineer with hands on experience in New Relic and governed metric design. In this role, you will help turn raw telemetry into structured dashboards and reusable aggregate metrics for observability and cost analysis.

About the Project

The Analytics Platform project is centered on creating dashboards and governed metrics for observability and cost tracking. It includes cross tenant visibility, telemetry aggregation, and support for analytics use cases based on reliable and reusable data.

Responsibilities

• Build New Relic dashboards and NRQL queries
• Create consolidated cross tenant dashboards for agent health, cost, and estate overview
• Implement cost and token usage metrics for GenAI and compute workloads
• Derive governed aggregate metrics from raw telemetry with lineage
• Separate technical and business observability through derivation, replication, and linkage
• Maintain metric facet hygiene with consistent and low cardinality dimensions

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in observability engineering
• Experience with dashboard and cost metric implementation on New Relic or equivalent SaaS observability platforms
• Experience translating raw telemetry into governed and reusable aggregate metrics

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with New Relic Metric API and Firehose ingestion
• Experience with AWS cost allocation including Cost Explorer, tagging, and per account attribution
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry GenAI semantic conventions including gen_ai.* and pmi.agent.*
• Experience feeding a downstream BI or analytics data product
