Senior Data & BI Engineer

About the Position

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data & BI Engineer to join an established enterprise analytics team and contribute across Power BI, data engineering, Microsoft Fabric, and platform optimization. The role combines work on the existing BI and data landscape with the continued adoption of Microsoft Fabric. The successful candidate should be comfortable working across data pipelines, analytical data models, semantic models, reporting, performance optimization, and production support. This is a hands-on delivery role requiring someone who can work independently, troubleshoot complex data and BI problems, and contribute productively with limited ramp-up.

About the Project

The Analytics Platform focuses on enhancing enterprise reporting and data solutions while expanding the use of Microsoft Fabric. You will work across data pipelines, analytical models, dashboards, and platform performance to support reliable and scalable analytics delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and analytical data solutions.
• Develop and optimize Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards.
• Troubleshoot and improve data, SQL, semantic-model, and reporting performance.
• Contribute to the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse, OneLake, pipelines, notebooks, and related workloads.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and integration across enterprise data sources.
• Apply appropriate patterns for Import, DirectQuery, Direct Lake, composite models, aggregations, and incremental processing.
• Contribute to data quality, security, governance, monitoring, and operational reliability.
• Support and enhance existing production data and analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders while being able to work independently on assigned problems.
• Where applicable, contribute to AI-enabled analytics and integration with Microsoft AI capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including semantic models, DAX, Power Query, and report development.
• Strong SQL and data engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with dimensional modeling and enterprise analytical/data warehouse solutions.
• Experience diagnosing and optimizing BI and data-platform performance.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and its core data/analytics workloads.
• Understanding of Lakehouse/Warehouse architectures and modern data engineering patterns.
• Experience with data ingestion, transformation, pipelines, and production data operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and work independently with limited guidance.
• Experience supporting production enterprise data and analytics solutions.

Nice to Have

• Microsoft Fabric certifications such as DP-600 and/or DP-700.
• Python/PySpark and notebook-based data engineering.
• Experience with CI/CD and deployment practices for Fabric and Power BI.
• Experience with Azure data services.
• Exposure to Microsoft Foundry, GenAI, agents, or AI-enabled analytics.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated enterprise environments.
