Java Developer (Kazakhstan)

About the project

Andersen is hiring a Java Developer (Kazakhstan) to build scalable software solutions and support international digital projects across multiple industries.

The project is focused on developing a next-generation business banking mobile application based on microservices architecture. It includes building new features, integrating modern technologies, and preparing the migration of corporate clients from the legacy platform to the new solution.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining backend services using Java 11+ and Spring Boot / Spring MVC, following SOLID principles and Clean Code practices.
• Designing and implementing RESTful APIs, ensuring seamless integration with internal and external systems, with a strong understanding of HTTP method semantics, including idempotency, and CORS policy configuration.
• Working with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL): writing complex SQL queries, profiling queries using EXPLAIN, analyzing execution costs and execution plans, optimizing indexes, and ensuring ACID compliance.
• Implementing the data access layer using Hibernate / JPA and optimizing query performance.
• Developing reliable caching mechanisms, selecting appropriate caching strategies (in-memory vs. distributed caching), and working extensively with Redis, including TTL management and understanding its underlying data storage mechanisms.
• Integrating and configuring asynchronous messaging with Kafka, including managing topics, partitions, consumer groups, and offsets, as well as ensuring fault tolerance in case of consumer failures.
• Ensuring application security using Spring Security, JWT, and OAuth 2.0.
• Supporting CI/CD processes, working with Git and GitFlow, containerizing applications using Docker, working in Linux environments, and participating in deployments to cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure as required).

Requirements

• Experience as a Java Developer for 2+ years.
• Understanding operating system fundamentals and their interaction with the JVM.
• Having strong knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Understanding network communication, including the OSI model and its real-world implementations, stateless and stateful approaches to protocol design, and the differences between HTTP and TCP.
• Having strong knowledge of and hands-on experience with the Spring Framework.
• Having solid knowledge of SQL databases, including ACID properties, transaction isolation levels, and related concepts.
• Being proficient with at least one version control system, preferably Git.
• Having hands-on experience with Docker.
• Being able and willing to write high-quality unit tests.
• Having experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube.
• Being willing and prepared to mentor colleagues and conduct code reviews.
• English level – from Intermediate and above.

Nice to have

• Having experience with NoSQL databases.
• Having hands-on experience independently designing and setting up a microservices architecture for a new project.
• Having experience with Testcontainers.
