Chief DevOps Engineer

We are building AI-assisted automation to eliminate manual operations and raise delivery reliability while owning AWS infrastructure and CI/CD end-to-end. As a Chief DevOps Engineer, you will evolve Terraform and Jenkins, tune SonarQube quality gates, and use Claude Code to accelerate implementation across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Spot manual, repetitive, or error-prone operational work and replace it with automated, AI-assisted workflows, then quantify the time and toil eliminated
  • Develop and maintain Terraform infrastructure as code, covering modules, state strategy, environment promotion, drift detection, and remediation
  • Own and enhance Jenkins pipelines across build, test, security scan, artifact, and deploy stages, including shared libraries and reusable pipeline patterns
  • Integrate and calibrate SonarQube quality gates so code quality and security findings highlight what matters without generating noise
  • Leverage coding agents such as Claude Code as a primary implementation vehicle by breaking down work, setting specs and guardrails, directing execution, and rigorously reviewing results
  • Architect and debug AWS systems end to end, spanning compute, networking, IAM, and storage, and understand how these services behave under failure
  • Respond to and resolve production and pipeline incidents, then turn learnings into runbooks and automation to prevent repeat issues
  • Assess whether existing tooling is still the right fit, and when change is needed, plan and deliver migrations methodically while keeping developers supported and productive
  • Document delivered automation and infrastructure so the whole team can understand, operate, and maintain what you build

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with AWS core services (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, CloudWatch), including practical knowledge of failure behavior in real-world scenarios
  • Production background with infrastructure as code using Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, CloudFormation/CDK, or similar, with ownership of infrastructure definitions beyond prebuilt modules
  • Proven ownership of CI/CD pipelines in production using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, or comparable tooling
  • Strong system design fundamentals, including ability to evaluate tradeoffs around failure domains, state, idempotency, and blast radius before implementation
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability, applying an evidence-based, structured approach to debugging distributed systems and CI/CD pipelines under pressure
  • Solid software engineering discipline (testing, version control, modularity, code review, readable code) applied to infra and tooling, with proficiency in Python, Go, or a similar language
  • Practical experience using coding agents for meaningful implementation work, with sound judgment to validate and review agent output to the same bar as your own
  • Developer-as-customer mindset, with the discipline to stage migrations carefully and communicate changes clearly rather than forcing disruptive cutovers

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with Terraform, Jenkins, and SonarQube, including shared libraries and reusable pipeline patterns
  • Familiarity with static analysis and code-quality gating tools such as Snyk, Semgrep, Checkmarx, or CodeQL
  • Production-scale containers and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
  • Knowledge of observability tooling such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, including building alerting teams trust
  • Experience with security and compliance automation, including secrets management, policy as code, and SOC 2 or similar audit evidence collection
  • Experience creating internal developer platforms or self-service tooling
  • Background in security or vulnerability management products
