Technical Game Designer (Freelance)

OWLCAT GAMES was founded in 2016. The studio employs experienced developers who worked on projects such as Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and is currently working on titles Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.

Right now we are looking for a professional who will be working with Technical Game Design in Unreal Engine 5.

TASKS:

• Working with and scripting game elements in Unreal Engine as part of implementation of features
• Writing and updating game documentation
• Work with Designers, Programmers and QA to create engaging gameplay features

REQUIREMENTS:

• A minimum of 2 years' game design experience
• Experience with Unreal Engine (experience with Blueprints)
• Experience in creating and scripting game entities
• Extensive experience in playing video games, in particular RPGs, actions and third person shooters, understanding of the ins and outs of these game genres and their mechanics
• Experience in working on game projects (preferably RPGs, action, and third person shooters), at least one of which was launched on a major gaming platform (Steam, Google Play, etc.)
• Experience in writing design documents and their implementation
• Experience in developing elements of game mechanics and combat mechanics
• Russian language skills at B2 level are necessary due to the team's Russian-language production pipeline and internal communication.

WILL BE A PLUS:

• Basic understanding of enemy/boss behavior implementation via Behavior Trees — general grasp of how BTs work, familiarity with decorators, and basic knowledge of EQS (Environment Query System) queries
