Senior UI Technical Artist (Unreal Engine 5)

We are looking for a Senior UI Technical Artist to define the tech art systems, materials, and motion language that unify a game UI experience across platforms. You will elevate UI polish through performant real-time solutions and mentorship across the UX/UI group.

Responsibilities

• Craft polished and performant UI tech art solutions using materials, UMG, animation, FX, lighting, blueprints, and camera tools in Unreal Engine
• Define tech art templates, thematics, and principles that standardize the forward-looking UI
• Establish consistent visual patterns for motion, FX, transitions, scale, proportion, and micro-interactions
• Plan cross-platform adaptation strategies that balance visual quality with performance constraints
• Own UI tech art tooling and asset management practices to keep the team efficient and consistent
• Build animated transitions and cinematic UI moments using Sequencer and camera workflows
• Develop reusable material and VFX systems that scale across a large UI surface
• Profile and optimize shaders, textures, materials, and VFX to meet performance targets
• Collaborate with UX and visual design to translate intent into polished real-time execution
• Mentor UI artists and visual designers on workflows, standards, and best practices
• Refine timing, easing, and motion design details to improve UI feel and responsiveness

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist, UI Tech Artist, or VFX Artist in games
• Senior-level mentorship experience guiding UI artists and visual designers
• Platform optimization experience balancing fidelity and performance across multiple targets
• Strong Unreal Engine 5 expertise with Material Editor and Niagara for real-time VFX
• Advanced Sequencer experience for animated transitions and cinematic camera moves
• Expert shader and material skills including material functions/systems and optimization
• Strong UV math knowledge for advanced material and UI-driven effects
• Solid real-time lighting and post-process knowledge for mood and atmosphere
• Strong 3D modeling skills with fluency where 3D meets UI (cameras, framing, spatial/diegetic UI)
• Excellent collaboration skills to elevate established UX and visual designs with technical polish
• High comfort with ambiguity and exploratory iteration to find the right feel for a moment
• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2)

Nice to have

• Experience building reusable and modular VFX and material systems for large UI surfaces
• Background in cinematics, trailer production, or environmental mood and lighting work
• Familiarity with how UMG UI logic interacts with material and VFX systems
• Experience integrating AI assistants into content creation or pipeline automation
• Strong interest or experience in gaming UI and real-time interactive visuals
