Senior Smallworld GIS Engineer

We are seeking a Senior GIS Engineer (GE Smallworld). You will design and build Smallworld-based geospatial solutions that power property intelligence products across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll own spatial data pipelines, solve complex production issues and guide technical decisions

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain GE Smallworld applications and geospatial data solutions
• Develop and optimize spatial data pipelines, ETL flows and integrations
• Partner with data engineering and product teams to deliver geospatial features across platforms
• Guide GIS architecture decisions and set development standards
• Troubleshoot complex geospatial and data issues in production environments
• Document technical designs and ensure maintainable, consistent delivery
• Mentor engineers in Smallworld, Magik and GIS development practice

Requirements

• GE Smallworld expertise with hands-on delivery in production environments
• Magik programming capability for developing and supporting Smallworld solutions
• GIS and spatial data concepts including spatial modeling and GIS architecture fundamentals
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex data and application issues
• Time zone availability to overlap with New Zealand working hours for at least three hours
• Clear communication when working with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• SQL and Python for data processing and transformation
• Cloud data platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS) or BigQuery
• OGC standards and spatial formats including Web Feature Service (WFS), Web Map Service (WMS) and GeoJSON
