Senior Python Developer with SQL, Investment Platform

About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer who writes production code every day and enjoys building reliable applications in close partnership with business users. In this role, you will modernize existing tools, develop new components, and help ensure critical investment workflows continue to operate smoothly.

About the Project

The Investment Platform is focused on upgrading business critical ETF and investment analytics tools into scalable and maintainable applications. You will collaborate closely with engineering specialists and business stakeholders to support daily front office workflows and improve application reliability.

About the Team

You will be part of a small hands on engineering team led by a Lead Python Engineer. The team works closely with an internal engineering group and business stakeholders, with limited business analyst support and direct collaboration across technical and front office roles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production grade Python applications and APIs
• Refactor and modernize Python and Excel tools built by business teams
• Add tests, structure, security, and observability to existing applications
• Work directly with portfolio managers and front office users to clarify requirements and validate results
• Build data intensive and analytics features on SQL and cloud data platforms
• Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing, and code reviews
• Apply AI assisted development practices where they improve speed and quality

Requirements

• 5 plus years of hands on production Python development
• Python is the main language in the candidate's current role
• Experience with ETF or investment front office environments in asset management, investment banking, or capital markets
• Experience working directly with portfolio managers or traders
• Experience modernizing legacy or business built applications
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with cloud platforms
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with API design and integration
• Experience with automated testing
• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience with Git
• Ability to gather requirements directly from business users
• Ability to communicate clearly with non technical stakeholders
