Position overview
We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer who will contribute to the design and evolution of an internal developer platform that enables self-service infrastructure, streamlined deployments, and an improved developer experience.
The role follows standard India office hours, with some flexibility required to join early-hours coordination meetings aligned with the Sydney time zone (AEDT).
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve internal developer platforms that provide self-service infrastructure and deployment capabilities
- Implement and operate Kubernetes-based environments in cloud settings
- Work with Azure networking, identity, Key Vault, and infrastructure provisioning
- Implement and support an internal developer portal using Backstage, including Software Catalog, Scaffolder, and TechDocs
- Extend and integrate Backstage plugins to automate service onboarding, scaffolding, CI/CD, and governance workflows
- Build platform provisioning and abstraction layers using Crossplane and cloud-native control planes
- Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code modules using Terraform or Bicep
- Create and maintain CI/CD standards and golden path templates using GitHub Actions
- Embed security, compliance, observability, and governance controls into platform capabilities
- Collaborate with development teams to drive platform adoption, troubleshoot issues, and improve the developer experience
Requirements
- Availability to work in alignment with the GMT+10 (Sydney) time zone
- Strong hands-on experience designing and operating Kubernetes environments
- Experience working with Azure services, including networking, identity, Key Vault, and provisioning tools
- Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Backstage-based internal developer portals
- Familiarity with Backstage plugins and integrations for automation and CI/CD workflows
- Experience building abstraction layers with Crossplane
- Experience creating reusable, governed infrastructure-as-code modules in Terraform or Bicep
- Experience building CI/CD templates and workflows using GitHub Actions
- Understanding of platform engineering principles, including Team Topologies and platform-as-a-product practices
- Experience embedding governance, security, and observability into platform solutions
- Ability to collaborate with distributed teams and work effectively in English
