Senior / Lead Business Analyst - Oil & Gas

We are seeking a Senior / Lead Business Analyst – Oil & Gas with Data to act as a trusted liaison between development and business partners on SDLC projects. In this role, you will work directly with the client and business stakeholders to elicit requirements, propose feasible functional solutions and drive Agile processes while leveraging data analysis to deliver impactful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between development and business partners on SDLC projects
• Work directly with client and business stakeholders for requirements elicitation, proposing feasible functional solutions, supporting acceptance testing, gaining client buy-in and conflict handling
• Serve as a trusted advisor to client and business stakeholders
• Collaborate with development stakeholders on requirements feasibility discussion and elaboration, ambiguity resolution and clarifications, test scenario review, test result review and conflict handling
• Document requirements of a software system and manage requirements with end-to-end traceability through Jira, Rally ALM, TFS or ServiceNow for feature/epic description, user stories and acceptance criteria using the Gherkin BDD approach
• Write source to target mapping documents and perform gap analysis of databases, documenting the difference in business logic
• Analyze data migration projects and write SQL to gather and analyze data
• Run workshops with business users and summarise the action items
• Drive the Agile process and ceremonies, writing stories based upon the Sprint/PI goals
• Facilitate requirement gathering for data movement and needs
• Diagram complex processes to allow for simpler discussions
• Guide teams in their efforts to meet prescribed goals
• Gather requirements and information needed to stand up a cloud environment

Requirements

• 6 to 15 years of experience in business analysis, requirement gathering and stakeholder management
• Background in Oil & Gas projects
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL joining multiple tables and understanding table structures
• Skills in documentation of BRD, FRD and requirements management with end-to-end traceability
• Familiarity with Jira, Rally ALM, TFS or ServiceNow or similar project/change management tools
• Expertise in at least one Agile framework among SCRUM, Kanban, Scrum Ban or SAFe
• Understanding of data migrations, data management and data as a product
• Knowledge of ETL efforts and the basic process
• Capability to work independently when given a task, asking questions and direction when needed
