Senior JavaScript Full-Stack Developer (Discovery Pod)

We are seeking a Senior JavaScript Full-Stack Developer (Discovery Pod) to serve as a senior technical contributor within the largest pod in the portfolio — eight products sharing a common Sanity CMS + Next.js + Algolia backbone.

In this role, you will contribute to sprint delivery across the newsroom, exhibitions, exploration walk, and main site products, play a key role in the CMS platform migration on the main site, and help remediate injection vulnerabilities and unauthenticated webhook pipelines.

The ideal candidate is a senior TypeScript engineer with solid headless CMS experience who can deliver high-quality work across multiple products while maintaining strong technical depth.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to technical decisions across products sharing a common CMS + Next.js + search architecture
• Support the CMS platform migration on the main site — assist with migration planning, content model mapping, staged rollout, and cutover
• Contribute to GROQ injection vulnerability remediation and unauthenticated webhook pipeline hardening
• Participate in code reviews and help uphold engineering standards across the pod
• Support sprint planning and backlog refinement, and flag delivery risks to the Pod Lead
• Deliver features on the low-effort products (education blog, storytellers section, interactive storymap) as part of pod work
• Provide input on pod-level delivery health to the Pod Lead
• Coordinate with the Discovery Frontend Engineer on NGSUI dependency management and version alignment across pod products
• Ensure your products consume the design system correctly and flag breaking changes early
• Share knowledge with pod engineers and support their technical growth through pairing and reviews
• Collaborate with the Business Analyst to ensure stories are well-defined before sprint planning
• Contribute to cross-pod architecture discussions when relevant

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong experience with Next.js (App Router and Pages Router) and NestJS
• Background in headless CMS architecture with hands-on experience in Sanity Studio v5
• Skills in Algolia and Cloudinary integrations
• Working knowledge of AWS services including ECS, Lambda, and SQS
• Familiarity with CloudFront and Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
• Awareness of GROQ injection vulnerability remediation and webhook pipeline hardening practices
• Experience contributing to CMS platform migrations, including content model mapping and staged rollouts
• Competency in design system consumption and dependency management (NGSUI)
• Track record of strong individual delivery in a multi-product environment, including participation in code reviews and knowledge sharing
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
