Senior GIS Engineer (Smallworld)
We are seeking a Senior GIS Engineer (Smallworld) to build and support geospatial solutions powering a property intelligence platform. You’ll develop Smallworld applications, improve spatial data pipelines and partner with data engineering and product teams to deliver reliable location-based capabilities into production.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Smallworld applications, services and supporting components
- Build, optimize and monitor spatial data pipelines and ETL workflows for property and geographic datasets
- Collaborate with data engineering and product teams to deliver geospatial features and integrations
- Provide technical leadership on GIS architecture, spatial models and design decisions
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across geospatial applications and datasets
- Create and maintain technical documentation, development standards and runbooks
- Support CI/CD workflows, source control and release practices using GitHub
- Mentor engineers on Smallworld and GIS engineering best practices
Requirements
- Expert proficiency in GE Smallworld (must-have)
- Hands-on experience with the Magik programming language
- Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, spatial modeling and GIS architecture
- Experience integrating GIS systems with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming spatial and non-spatial datasets
- Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation and pipeline support
- Experience with CI/CD practices and source control using GitHub
- Clear communication with the ability to work across engineering and product teams
