Senior Data Scientist
At EPAM Vietnam, we are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team for a critical knowledge transfer and model optimization project. This role focuses on migrating an existing demand forecasting system, ensuring algorithmic integrity and business relevance as the model is migrated to a new Python-based application. You will play a key role in validating, fine-tuning and optimizing forecasting models that drive business value.

Responsibilities
- Design and deploy analytics models for retail decisions, including performance diagnosis, customer segmentation, demand forecasting, impact measurement and recommendation systems
- Lead end-to-end project delivery from problem definition through deployment and monitoring, establishing success metrics and adoption criteria
- Monitor and optimize model performance, scalability and reliability in production, managing data quality, drift detection and retraining schedules
- Apply GenAI/LLM expertise, including prompting strategies, RAG patterns, evaluation frameworks and guardrail implementation to mitigate hallucination and context limitations
- Collaborate with ML Engineers to integrate GenAI into Category Management workflows with measurable quality improvements and governance controls
- Partner with business stakeholders to validate requirements, interpret results and align deliverables with decision-making workflows
- Communicate technical trade-offs (speed vs accuracy, complexity vs maintainability) and manage scope, risks and stakeholder expectations
- Mentor junior team members on documentation, testing and experimental rigor
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science or a related field
- Proven experience in data science/applied machine learning, with delivery of end-to-end analytics/ML solutions in real-world or production environments
- Working knowledge of GenAI/LLM systems (RAG, evaluation, guardrails) and ability to explain how/why the system behaves
- Strong proficiency in Python, including strong SQL and data-wrangling skills
- Experience with model deployment, optimization and monitoring (CI/CD, versioning, performance tracking, incident handling)
- Strong stakeholder management skills: able to lead ambiguous projects, align metrics and drive delivery with minimal guidance
- Proficient in spoken and written English
