Java Development Team Lead
We are seeking a Java Development Team Lead to oversee the delivery and technical leadership of the Liferay Portal project, managing two cross-vendor teams and ensuring high-quality solutions within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead two cross-vendor teams of 6–8 engineers in the design, development, testing and maintenance of the Liferay Portal
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, mentorship and knowledge sharing within the teams
- Conduct regular code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards
- Maintain effective communication with QA, BA and Management stakeholders
- Coordinate with project management and vendor teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery within limited resources
- Drive the design and implementation of portal solutions using Liferay, SQL and React
- Engage in hands-on coding, review pull requests and actively contribute to the codebase
- Ensure integration of Liferay with other systems using APIs and services
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to portal performance, functionality and integrations
- Design, maintain and optimize SQL database schemas for the Liferay Portal
- Ensure data integrity, security and efficient data retrieval
Requirements
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams of more than 5 people
- Proficiency in Java, SQL and React with at least 1 year of experience in React
- Knowledge of Microservices, REST API and design patterns
- Experience with Waterfall and Scrum methodologies
- Strong communication skills and delivery experience at an intermediate level
- Background in Java 21, Liferay, REST API, React and MSSQL
- Understanding of Liferay as a proprietary, open-coded CMS with modular architecture via OSGI, custom DI and ORM
