Java developer (STORM)
Findev is looking for a Java Backend Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join our Short-Term Desk Technology team, building high-impact trading and cash management systems used directly by our Short Term, Cash, and Collateral desks.
This role is focused on developing real-time, front-office platforms that support investment decision-making, liquidity management, and trading workflows. You will partner closely with portfolio managers and traders to design and deliver solutions that directly influence how the desk operates.
You will take ownership across the full software lifecycle — from shaping requirements with the business through to design, build, and production delivery — working on high-availability services, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native applications.
Alongside building new capabilities, you will play a key role in evolving our platform architecture toward scalable, modern infrastructure, leveraging AWS and distributed systems to support mission-critical workflows.

Key Responsibilities
AI & Intelligent Automation
• Apply modern AI tooling (e.g., Copilot, LLMs, MCP frameworks) to improve developer productivity, testing quality, and operational efficiency across trading and financing platforms.
• Identify opportunities to introduce intelligent automation within workflows (e.g., anomaly detection, automated diagnostics, documentation and runbook generation).
• Begin embedding AI-assisted decision support into financing and trading systems, enabling better visibility into model outputs and key drivers.
• Contribute towards evolving systems that are increasingly interactive and explainable, allowing users to explore and understand model behaviour more effectively over time.
• Support the development of data-driven feedback loops, using historical outcomes and user interaction to continuously improve model relevance and system usability.
Core Engineering
• Design, build, and maintain high quality, scalable microservices using Java 21+ and modern frameworks.
• Develop new functionality while evolving existing components with clean, maintainable, well tested code.
• Apply TDD, good CI/CD practices, and strong engineering standards.
Cloud & Platform Modernisation
• Contribute to our cloud migration initiatives by building containerized, cloud ready services.
• Work with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, EKS, RDS, S3, MSK) to help move workloads off legacy environments.
• Participate in improving observability through metrics, tracing, and logging.
Business Collaboration
• Work directly with portfolio managers, traders, and operations teams to deliver high impact solutions.
• Understand front office workflows and translate them into robust, performant technical designs.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
- 8+ years of Java programming (Java Core + multithreading).
- Experience with Kafka and/or other real-time messaging systems.
- Experience with Ignite and/or other mem cache frameworks.
- Ability to work well independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with recovery mechanisms and exception management.
- Strong analytical ability to learn independently from code / reverse engineering.
- Experience with database systems such as Postgres, MySql or Oracle.
- Experience with Python.
