Why this role matters
The Financial Accounting Officer supports the daily accounting operations of the EX3 division by processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end closing and VAT preparation across multiple entities. The role manages routine and moderately complex accounting tasks—including accounts payable processing, general ledger postings, reconciliations, and documentation control—with high attention to detail and adherence to established procedures.
Working closely with the Financial Controller and Senior Financial Accountant, the position ensures timely completion of accounting activities, proper maintenance of ledgers, and compliance with internal policies. The role contributes directly to the accuracy and reliability of financial data, supporting efficient reporting and smooth audit and compliance processes.
What you'll actually do
- Process supplier invoices, payment documentation, and employee expense claims in line with approval procedures.
- Validate documentation, coding, and supporting evidence before posting.
- Maintain organised and complete records for all AP-related activities.
- Prepare standard journal entries (accruals, prepayments, adjustments) under direction of the Senior Financial Accountant.
- Perform routine reconciliations of bank accounts, supplier balances, and selected balance sheet accounts.
- Identify discrepancies and escalate issues for resolution.
- Assist in preparing VAT return working files, collecting necessary documents, and ensuring accuracy of recorded transactions.
- Support the annual audit process by providing documentation, reconciliations, and responses to basic auditor requests.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and proper documentation standards.
- Contribute to month-end activities by updating supporting schedules, preparing reconciliations, and ensuring data readiness.
- Coordinate with internal teams to obtain missing information required for closing
- Complete assigned tasks within defined reporting timelines.
- Liaise with procurement and other internal teams to support purchasing and payment processes.
- Assist in performing system receiving of goods/services and ensure proper documentation is in place.
- Support invoice-to-PO matching and follow up on discrepancies or missing approvals.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders to resolve documentation or process gaps.
- Provide updates on task progress to the finance team
- Assist with vendor onboarding processes, including collection and organisation of required documentation.
- Support basic KYC checks by ensuring completeness of vendor information and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records in the system.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure onboarding requirements are met.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- ACCA/ACA/ICAEW qualification or in progress required
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a corporate, multi-entity, or audit environment.
- Experience with accounts payable, general ledger processing, reconciliations, and routine accounting workflows.
- Working knowledge of IFRS concepts and accounting principles.
- Good proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems.
- Ability to process moderate volumes of transactions accurately and consistently.
- Understanding of VAT documentation and compliance basics.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and procedural discipline.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks and follow structured processes.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Clear communication and willingness to collaborate with finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Proactive in identifying missing documents or data inconsistencies.
