We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester in Python to join our Shared Development Services automation team, acting as a key technical contributor embedded within a game studio. With the support of the client's central test automation team, you will be responsible for the technical evolution and support of test scripting and automation systems for a major AAA game. Responsibilities
- Design and script sophisticated automated tests for highly complex game systems, serving as the primary driving force behind expanding automation coverage where manual testing is insufficient or inefficient
- Extend and evolve existing automated test scripts so they remain effective as game features evolve
- Identify gaps in test reliability and provide updates to improve the consistency and quality of automated results
- Investigate complex or intermittent issues by analyzing automation logs and diagnostic data
- Collaborate with engineers to provide technical context and automated reproduction steps, ensuring high-priority defects are clearly documented and verified
- Monitor the health and reliability of the automation pipeline
- Ensure that existing automated suites run efficiently within CI/CD systems and that results are stable, actionable, and free from flakiness
- Act as a subject matter expert for the studio on how to best utilize automation tools
- Translate manual test requirements into technical specifications that can be executed within the existing automation framework
Requirements
- More than 2 years of professional experience in software testing or quality engineering
- Experience in automation programming and test scripting
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python or C++
- Capability to extend and maintain test coverage using automation tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or JUnit
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with close attention to detail
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Nice to have
- Background in testing AAA games across multiple phases of the game development lifecycle
- Deep and varied gaming experience in first-person shooter (FPS) or action role-playing game (Action RPG) titles
- Knowledge of commercial game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine
- Capability to integrate with CI/CD systems such as TeamCity, Jenkins, or Horde
- Familiarity with test case management software such as QMetry or TestRail
- ISTQB certification or equivalent
- Skills in Java/C#, Bash, Lua, or PowerShell
