Finom is a European tech startup headquartered in Amsterdam, and we’re on a journey towards revolutionizing the financial landscape for entrepreneurs worldwide. Our mission is to develop an all-in-one financial B2B solution that integrates banking functions, accounting, financial management, and invoicing into a seamless, mobile-first platform.
We recently closed a
€115 million Series C equity round (around $133 million), bringing our total funding to approximately $346 million. This significant investment follows a $105 million growth funding round from General Catalyst, a long-term backer since 2021 known for supporting companies like Airbnb, HubSpot, KAYAK, and Stripe.
Finom's platform goes beyond traditional banking, offering invoicing and a growing suite of features, including AI-enabled accounting, aiming to simplify financial management for entrepreneurs. We're actively expanding our reach across key EU markets like Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.
At Finom, we’re not just redefining the entrepreneurial experience — we’re empowering our employees to make a real difference. Your work matters, and your impact extends far beyond product metrics. We nurture innovation and an inspiring work environment where bold ideas thrive, prioritizing thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and our business as a whole.
Maintaining our start-up spirit, we prioritize thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and, of course, our business.
About the Role
Finom is growing fast, and our Transaction Monitoring team is growing with it. We're looking for an experienced AML analyst to join us and help protect Finom and our customers from financial crime.
In this role, you'll review transaction monitoring alerts, work out why an alert triggered on an account, and investigate potentially suspicious activity. You'll then decide whether the behaviour is genuinely suspicious and whether it warrants a SAR filing or offboarding the customer. Your judgement is the heart of the job.
This is an investigations role, not a box-ticking one. After a structured ramp-up period, you'll make most decisions on your own and manage your own workload. Alongside your core queue work, you'll have chances to contribute to projects that improve how the team works, from process improvements to automation and AI-enabled workflows.
You'll join a team that is at the cutting edge of AML operations technology. Over time, you can take on broader responsibilities and move into more senior roles. Finom is constantly evolving, and people who do well here find that opportunities come quickly.
What You Will Be Doing
Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts, understanding what triggered each one and what the account activity tells you
Assess whether the behaviour is suspicious and decide on the right outcome, including SAR filing and/or customer offboarding
Escalate cases to Second Line of Defence (2LOD) during your ramp-up period, and then make more independent decisions as your experience with our processes grows
Manage your own productivity and meet your quality and productivity targets, taking initiative to keep the queue moving
Contribute to team and department projects as your experience grows, including process improvements, automation and AI initiatives
Over time, take on additional responsibilities, such as reviewing alerts on accounts flagged by Sales or Account Management and handling JIRA escalations from other teams
Work with colleagues across product, legal and compliance, and help make sure our approach balances regulatory compliance with a good customer experience
What your first months look like: The first two weeks cover Finom onboarding and Transaction Monitoring training. We expect you to be fully meeting your productivity and QA targets by around three months.
What you bring
You have at least two years of experience as an AML or fraud analyst in an anti-financial crime operations team
You have a solid grasp of AML typologies and concepts that goes beyond "how we did it at my last company". You understand the bigger picture of financial crime and why controls exist
You've worked in a fast-paced, high-volume operations environment and you thrive in it
You can take ownership: you manage your own workload, make sound decisions with the information you have, and keep going without needing constant direction
You're comfortable with change. Our processes and priorities evolve as we grow, and you see that as an opportunity
You communicate clearly in writing, and can explain your reasoning for a decision so that others can follow and review it
Nice to Have
Experience using AI in your personal or professional life, especially if you've built it into your own workflows. We're keen to hear how you've used it
Experience coordinating with other teams, such as product, legal and compliance
Experience in a fintech, payments, crypto or similar fast-moving financial services environment
