About the Position
We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join the Testing Chapter and own automation for one or more program workstreams. You will own the automation suite for your workstream, building and maintaining automated tests, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines, triaging failures, and acting as the quality advocate during squad ceremonies alongside developers and the QE Automation Lead.
The role requires working from the office three days per week. The candidate should be based in either Cluj Napoca or Bucharest.
About the Project
DataArt's Testing Chapter is embedded across client product squads within a multi year program covering reference data, analytics APIs, real time streaming, and application migrations. Teams are distributed across the EU, work fully remotely, and use Scrum.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automation suites for functional, regression, and integration testing of backend services and APIs.
- Validate REST APIs, Kafka based event pipelines, and WebSocket feeds.
- Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines and own the build failure triage process.
- Write SQL queries to verify database states following business operations.
- Collaborate with developers during feature development to shift quality activities left.
- Contribute to quality dashboards and report defect trends and release confidence metrics.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software testing with a strong focus on automation.
- Programming experience with Python (Pytest, Requests) or Java (REST Assured, JUnit, TestNG).
- Experience testing REST APIs, including contract validation, schema checks, and negative path coverage.
- SQL experience for backend data validation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Experience working with Git workflows and participating in test code reviews.
- Proficient English for technical communication (B2+).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kafka consumer testing or WebSocket validation.
- Experience with TestRail or equivalent test management tools.
- Experience using AI assisted testing tools such as GitHub Copilot.
- Financial services or enterprise domain knowledge.
