Описание вакансии
We're actively expanding VFX production across our projects and are looking for a Technical Artist to join our development team. As an expert at the intersection of VFX and programming, you won't just be writing shaders in this role. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of an effect, end-to-end—from its technical implementation to its polished final result.
At Playrix, development teams are at the core of our business. They are the reason that our games have continued to grow and improve for 21 years. Each programmer makes a unique and invaluable contribution to the company's results.
Responsibilities
- Create stylized animated fonts for leaderboards in our games
- Develop VFX from scratch (fire, water, explosions, magic)—from preparing textures in Photoshop to final integration in the engine
- Participate in C++ development: configuring shader and effect logic and parameters, integrating them into the game
- Optimize implemented features for mobile platform constraints
Requirements
- Experience developing shaders from scratch (GLSL / HLSL)
- Strong Photoshop skills for preparing textures
- Experience in C++ or Unreal Engine development
- A portfolio with examples of shaders or in-game visual effects
Tech stack
- Languages: C++17/20 — primary; Lua and Python for single tasks
- Graphics: OpenGL ES and Metal
- Our own engine, similar to Unity or Unreal, which we are constantly developing (read about our engine here)
- Advanced CI/CD, automated testing, code review processes and much more
- AI tools: we use Cursor to automate and accelerate development—from routine tasks to planning and decomposition
Nice to have
- Experience using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, etc.)
We offer
- The opportunity for continuous development in a team of 500+ professional engineers: we have a huge knowledge base and a mentoring system that allows you to adapt quickly.
- Ability to move between areas and not only within development (Project Management, marketing, etc.).
- Tasks that require you to make safe and effective architectural decisions as well as opportunities to apply interesting programming approaches.
- An emphasis on developing each specialist's product ideas Time to play the games that you're developing, so you can envision how this or that feature will work for the user.
- The ability to switch out processes and approaches for more efficient ones without lengthy approvals or bureaucracy.
- We actively use Cursor and other AI tools in the development process — you'll have the opportunity to work on the cutting edge of technology, share your experience, and help shape best practices for their use.
