Grid Dynamics·United Kingdom·Офис·2д. назад

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Remote Communication & VR) to join our client's cutting-edge humanoid robotics project. Our client is a well-funded technology company on a mission to build commercially-scalable and safe multi-DoF robotic platforms. With physical hardware already deployed in real industrial pilots, you will take ownership of the networking and VR infrastructure that allows human operators to seamlessly control these robots from afar.

Essential functions

  • Architect and optimize ultra-low-latency real-time video and data streaming pipelines between human operators and physical hardware.
  • Develop robust remote communication infrastructure utilizing advanced networking protocols (e.g., WebRTC, UDP) to ensure seamless and stable teleoperation.
  • Design and integrate VR headset interfaces and operator UIs to provide intuitive, high-fidelity feedback loops.
  • Define and improve strict quality metrics for communication systems, focusing on latency, network reliability, observability, and failure modes.
  • Collaborate closely with controls and hardware teams to ensure stable data transport and reliable remote control capabilities under heavy operational pressure.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to write highly reliable, performance-critical software in C++ and Python.
  • Deep commercial expertise in networking, low-latency video streaming, and real-time data transport.
  • Strong background in developing Virtual Reality (VR) applications, remote rendering, or network-heavy real-time simulations.
  • A rigorous quality mindset focused on clean abstractions, testing, logging, and system observability.
  • Exceptional debugging skills across complex communication stacks, ensuring stability when integrating with physical hardware.
  • Note: Prior robotics experience is not required for this role.

Would be a plus

  • Commercial experience with OpenXR.
  • Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine in an engineering capacity.
  • Experience designing safe workflows for systems where latency, network instability, or poor feedback can create operational risks.
  • Previous exposure to teleoperation, human-in-the-loop systems, or hardware-facing infrastructure.

We offer

  • Opportunity to work on bleeding-edge projects
  • Work with a highly motivated and dedicated team
  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible schedule
  • Benefits package - medical insurance, sports
  • Corporate social events
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Well-equipped office
