We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with Angular to join our team and lead the remediation of security vulnerabilities across a group of business-critical enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, and Angular, combined with a proven track record of working with complex enterprise systems, driving security initiatives, analyzing vulnerability findings at the architectural level, and designing secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across both backend and front-end layers.
The primary focus of the role is Java/Spring development and security vulnerability remediation at a senior engineering level, with Angular used to support and evolve front-end components where required. The role also involves mentoring team members and influencing technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis and remediation of security vulnerabilities across a portfolio of applications
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend functionality using Java and Spring / Spring Boot
- Evolve and maintain front-end functionality using Angular, ensuring alignment with security and architectural standards
- Perform in-depth investigation of existing codebases and architect solutions that address vulnerabilities without compromising business functionality or system stability
- Drive the upgrade of vulnerable libraries, frameworks, and application dependencies, including planning migration strategies for breaking changes
- Perform complex code-level remediation grounded in secure development principles, OWASP guidelines, and industry best practices
- Diagnose and resolve non-trivial issues resulting from security fixes, dependency upgrades, or legacy implementations
- Produce clean, maintainable, performant, and secure code across backend and front-end components, setting quality standards for the team
- Lead and participate in code reviews, testing strategies, and validation of implemented fixes
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to mid- and junior-level engineers
- Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, architects, product stakeholders, and security teams
- Champion continuous improvement of application security posture, technical quality, and engineering practices
- Contribute to technical decision-making and propose architectural improvements where appropriate
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial software development experience with Java
- Advanced proficiency in Spring Framework / Spring Boot, including deep understanding of its internals and ecosystem
- Solid hands-on experience with Angular and modern front-end application development
- Proven background working with large-scale enterprise applications and complex legacy codebases
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, backend architecture, and distributed systems principles
- Deep understanding of common application security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10), secure coding practices, and threat mitigation techniques
- Demonstrated ability to independently investigate security findings, identify root causes, and design appropriate, sustainable fixes
- Advanced skills in dependency/library upgrades, migration planning, and resolving complex compatibility issues
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of complex initiatives, and collaborate effectively within a distributed team
- Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to technical direction
- Strong English communication skills (B2 level)
Nice to have
- Hands-on expertise with security scanning, SAST/DAST, or static analysis tools (e.g., SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fortify, Snyk)
- Track record of modernizing, re-architecting, or maintaining large enterprise applications
- Strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices
- Experience with cloud environments and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
