Senior Full-Stack Engineer – AI-Enabled Tooling

We are seeking experienced Senior Full-Stack Engineers to join a major transformation programme within a leading global investment bank’s Production Management division.

The team is developing a new generation of AI-enabled web applications and engineering tools designed to improve the effectiveness of Production Support engineers, enhance operational efficiency and modernise the way critical technology services are supported.

This is an opportunity to work on business-critical applications in a complex, highly regulated, global environment, combining modern full-stack engineering with emerging AI technologies.

You will take ownership of end-to-end delivery, from solution design and development through to deployment and ongoing improvement. You will also help establish engineering best practices, champion continuous delivery and automated testing, and encourage the adoption of modern software engineering principles across Production Management.

Essential functions

• Design, develop and deliver scalable, reliable and resilient full-stack applications using modern backend and frontend technologies.
• Build AI-enabled tooling that improves the productivity and effectiveness of Production Support engineers.
• Deliver end-to-end projects, understanding the business impact of technical decisions and solutions.
• Apply strong software development lifecycle principles across design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Drive Continuous Delivery, automation and engineering excellence across supported applications.
• Improve operational efficiency through root cause analysis, incident and problem management, performance tuning and knowledge sharing.
• Promote best practices in software engineering, identify technical anti-patterns and address them proactively.
• Work collaboratively with global, multi-disciplinary teams across onshore, nearshore and offshore locations.
• Coach and mentor engineers, encouraging high standards of code quality, testing and maintainability.
• Apply Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban, and contribute to effective delivery planning.
• Communicate progress, technical decisions, risks and project status clearly to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Work effectively within a regulated financial-services environment, considering security, resilience and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Backend Development: Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot and Gradle, alongside Python and Node.js.

Frontend Development: Experience building modern web applications using React, JavaScript and TypeScript.

Databases: Experience working with PostgreSQL and designing efficient, reliable data-driven applications.

AI-Enabled Development: Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, including agent mode, and recent AI models to accelerate software development and support the creation of AI-enabled tooling.

CI/CD and Automation: Experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery and deployment automation, ideally using Tekton and/or Harness.

Software Engineering Practices: Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, automated testing, code quality, application resilience, performance optimisation and maintainable architecture.

• Proven experience in a senior software engineering role delivering business-critical applications.
• Strong full-stack development capability across backend services, APIs, databases and modern frontend applications.
• Ability to understand how technology decisions translate into business value and operational improvements.
• Experience delivering scalable, reliable and resilient software in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery, continuous delivery and engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to learn new business domains quickly and work effectively across multiple teams.
• Experience collaborating with distributed engineering teams and navigating complex organisational structures.

Would be a plus

• Experience within financial services, banking or another highly regulated industry.
• Exposure to Production Management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), application support or operational tooling.
• Experience developing AI-enabled applications or incorporating AI models into software engineering workflows.
• Experience improving incident management, root cause analysis, knowledge management and operational efficiency.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing engineering standards beyond the immediate team.
