Senior Database Developer
We are seeking a Senior Database Developer to lead the migration and modernization of SQL Server databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL. The role focuses on schema porting, code conversion, application updates and validation, leveraging AWS migration tooling and AI-assisted accelerators to deliver reliable, high-performing database solutions.
Responsibilities
- Port SQL Server database schemas to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, ensuring structural integrity, data type mapping and constraint parity
- Convert T-SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers and views to PL/pgSQL equivalents, resolving syntax, data type and behavioral differences between SQL Server and PostgreSQL
- Transform T-SQL queries embedded in C# / .NET application code into PL/pgSQL-compatible syntax and update the data access layer (Npgsql, Entity Framework Core) to communicate with Aurora PostgreSQL
- Operate AWS Transform for .NET / SQL Server as the primary AI agentic accelerator, submitting workloads, reviewing agent-generated artifacts, validating transformations and refining outputs where the agent falls short
- Apply AWS DMS for data migration and replication, AWS SCT for supplementary schema and code conversion and Kiro for GenAI-assisted code analysis and remediation
- Deploy converted schemas, code and data to a non-production Aurora PostgreSQL environment
- Configure instances, parameter groups, security settings and connectivity to mirror production patterns
- Confirm compile and execution of migrated SQL code objects and validate communication between the updated C# application and Aurora PostgreSQL
- Design test plans covering functional correctness, data integrity, performance benchmarking and regression testing
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in database development and migration projects
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and complex queries
- Advanced to expert proficiency in PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL) and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL
- Skills in AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
- Proficiency in C# / .NET data access layer development with Npgsql, Entity Framework Core and ADO.NET
- Background in cross-platform database schema migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL
- Competency in database modernization testing, including compile validation, functional testing and performance benchmarking
Nice to have
- Familiarity with AWS Transform for .NET / SQL Server for AI agentic migration workflow, validation and output refinement, along with GenAI-assisted migration tools
- Understanding of AWS Aurora configuration, including parameter groups, replication, HA and Performance Insights, as well as Amazon CloudWatch for database monitoring and alerting
- Skills in Python for scripting and automation of migration tasks
- Knowledge of CI/CD for database deployments
- Familiarity with Kiro for AI-assisted code refinement workflows
