The Finance area is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the company’s financial information and accounting operations across the organization. As we build a financial institution from the ground up, this role plays a critical part in maintaining strong financial governance, supporting regulatory compliance, enabling strategic decision-making, and ensuring scalable and sustainable financial operations.
This role will lead the end-to-end accounting cycle and monthly close process under US GAAP and Colombian accounting standards (IFRS/NIIF), ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with tax and statutory requirements, and timely reporting to the global headquarters. The role will also serve as the technical accounting lead and subject matter expert within the Accounting team.
Challenges that await you:
- Lead and execute the monthly and annual financial close, including managing the closing calendar, recording accruals and amortizations, and performing analytical reviews of the income statement and balance sheet.
- Own complex and high-risk balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and intercompany reconciliations across group entities, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Prepare and present standalone financial statements and the monthly reporting package for the group, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
- Coordinate and execute tax compliance activities, including withholding tax, VAT, ICA, statutory information reporting (Exogenous Information), and support for corporate income tax filings in collaboration with the Tax team, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all submitted information.
- Prepare technical accounting memos and analyses on topics such as revenue recognition, provisions, and differences between US GAAP and IFRS/Colombian GAAP, while recommending and documenting accounting policies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external and internal audits, as well as statutory auditors, by preparing supporting documentation, responding to audit requests, and following up on the implementation of recommendations.
- Prepare and review reports required by regulatory and supervisory authorities, ensuring consistency and alignment with the company's accounting records.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting controls within the ERP, driving enhancements in data quality, reducing closing timelines, and improving process documentation.
- Review the work of junior accounting team members, providing guidance on accounting principles, best practices, and technical matters to support their professional development.
What makes you a great fit:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (required).
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior-level role or with direct ownership of the financial close process. Experience in the financial services industry (regulated financial institutions, fintechs, or banking) and/or a Big Four accounting firm is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and Colombian tax regulations, with the ability to research, document, and support technical accounting positions.
- Proven experience leading or coordinating end-to-end financial close processes and serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits.
- Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel. Familiarity with automation and business intelligence tools such as Power Query, Power BI, or similar is a plus.
- Upper-intermediate to advanced English/Spanish proficiency (B2+) required to collaborate with the global headquarters and prepare documentation in English.
- Experience working in multinational companies or organizations with reporting responsibilities to a global headquarters is preferred.
- A postgraduate specialization in IFRS, Tax, Finance, or a related field is considered a plus.
