We are looking for a Senior 3D Character Artist to join the AMC Studio team to develop an unannounced AAA game in a realistic fantasy setting. This is a high-visual-standard project where nature, magic, and living creatures come together in a believable world. We are looking for a Senior 3D Character Artist specializing in creatures (from animals resembling real-life counterparts to completely fictional designs)
Responsibilities
- Create high-detail 3D creatures based on concept art and reference materials (realistic animals with modified features + original designs from scratch)
- Faithfully match the concept art while filling in missing information using the right visual language (anatomy, materials, silhouette)
- Define a clear hierarchy of details: well-defined primary, secondary, and tertiary forms
- Optimize models for real-time rendering without losing artistic integrity
- Work closely with concept artists, technical animators, and game designers
5+ years of experience in the game industry (at least 2 years specifically creating creatures / animals for AAA titles).
- Skills in creating fur, feathers, or scales (using texture cards or geometric solutions)
- Strong understanding of real-life animal anatomy and the ability to adapt it into fictional designs
- A portfolio featuring realistic creatures (viewport screenshots, wireframes, texel density)
- Proficiency in: ZBrush, Maya / Blender / 3ds Max, Substance 3D Painter, Marmoset Toolbag
- Ability to create clean topology suitable for animation (deformations, rigging)
- Understanding of technical constraints (polygon budgets, LODs, normal maps, baking)
