We are seeking a visionary Robotics Technical Lead to support the next generation of our intelligent robotics platforms. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and real-world robotic deployment.
Based in Dresden, one of Europe’s leading high-tech and microelectronics hubs, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for advancing system architecture, perception, control, and edge deployment. You will drive the development and scaling of our core technologies, while fostering a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Essential functions
Technical Expertise:
- End-to-End System Design: Architect and deploy robust, real-time Physical AI pipelines, integrating multi-sensor fusion, perception, local navigation, and high-level decision-making.
- Next-Gen AI Foundations: Spearhead R&D in Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, Agentic AI, and Reinforcement Learning (RL) to elevate autonomous robot capabilities in dynamic environments.
- Edge & Hardware Integration: Design low-latency, high-performance perception and inference stacks optimized for edge platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson / DeepStream) and ROS 2 ecosystems.
- Infrastructure & Communication: Oversee resilient robot-to-cloud and robot-to-robot mesh communication architectures for fleet coordination and edge-to-cloud telemetry.
Team Leadership & Engineering Excellence:
- Build & Mentor: Lead, grow, and mentor a high-performing team of robotics engineers
- Engineering Standards: Establish modern MLOps, GitOps, CI/CD, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and production SDLC practices across all physical AI and backend software workflows.
- Cross-Functional Strategy: Collaborate closely with executive leadership and key stakeholders to translate strategic roadmaps into market-ready MVPs and scalable production deployments.
Qualifications
- Domain Track Record: 10+ years of hands-on software/AI engineering experience, with significant focus on autonomous robotics, computer vision, and physical AI systems.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing and scaling technical teams in fast-paced startup or high-growth environments.
- Core Robotics Stack: Strong mastery of ROS 2, multi-sensor perception (LiDAR, RGB-D, IMU), sensor fusion, and autonomous mobile robot (AMR) navigation stacks.
- Modern AI / Deep Learning: Deep technical expertise in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch), Foundation Models, VLA architectures, LLM/Agentic systems, and Reinforcement Learning.
- Edge Computing: Demonstrated experience building real-time perception pipelines using the NVIDIA ecosystem (DeepStream, Jetson, Isaac Sim / Isaac ROS).
- Full-Lifecycle Deployment: Track record of taking complex AI/Robotics products from early-stage research/PoC to high-reliability production deployment.
- Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
