We are seeking a Robotics Simulation Engineer to join a simulation engineering pod supporting the migration of an autonomy simulation platform to NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac Sim for a global heavy-equipment manufacturer that is scaling autonomy, robotics and physical AI. In this role, you will own the scenario framework that autonomy teams use to test their software, working with our technical lead and the client’s simulation engineers to extend and migrate test scenarios, connect autonomy software to the simulator through ROS 2, and run large scenario campaigns reliably at scale.
Essential functions
- Scenario Framework Development: Extend the framework autonomy teams use to define, parameterize and run test scenarios for software that operates on real heavy machines.
- Scenario Migration: Move existing scenarios onto the new Omniverse / Isaac Sim platform without losing coverage.
- ROS 2 Integration for SIL & HIL: Connect autonomy software to the simulator through ROS 2 for software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Large-Scale Campaigns: Make large scenario campaigns run reliably in batch or distributed mode, and measure and benchmark their performance.
Qualifications
- Commercial experience in robotics or autonomy software engineering with a focus on simulation.
- ROS 2 Integration: Hands-on experience with ROS 2, including connecting robot or vehicle software to a simulator.
- Python & C++: Strong programming skills in both languages.
- Scenario Orchestration: Experience defining and orchestrating parameterized scenarios with workflow engines or similar tools.
- SIL / HIL Testing: Practical experience with software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Simulation at Scale: Proven experience running simulations in batch or distributed setups.
Would be a plus
- Scenario Tooling & Standards: Experience with Isaac Sim or CARLA scenario tooling and scenario standards such as OpenSCENARIO.
- Autonomy Validation: Background in validating autonomy for vehicles or robots.
- Framework API Design: Experience designing APIs for frameworks that other teams build on.
- Simulation Benchmarking: Experience benchmarking the performance of simulation runs.
