Resident Delivery Architect

As a Resident Delivery Architect at Grid Dynamics, you will serve as the resident technical leader for one of the world’s largest multinational retail enterprises. You will bridge technical vision and execution, partnering with the account team to discover requirements, formulate and estimate solutions, develop proposals, and curate won projects through to technical delivery. You will guide initiatives across key retail tracks - including Store Technology, Merchandising, Home Services/Online, and SRE - championing microservices architectures, event-driven backends, and AI-first engineering practices.

Essential functions

• Partner directly with client stakeholders and the account team to elicit requirements and identify modernization opportunities.
• Design, scope, estimate, and present comprehensive technical proposals to client leadership.
• Curate and shepherd won initiatives to technical success, providing architecture governance from inception to delivery.
• Architect resilient, distributed microservices ecosystems and event-driven systems at enterprise retail scale.
• Drive the adoption of AI-first and AI-native development practices across engineering teams to accelerate delivery cycles.
• Provide architectural guidance for in-store systems, Point of Sale (POS) integration, and digital retail platforms.
• Define reliability, operational readiness, and SRE standards to ensure system resilience across critical retail operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in senior solution/delivery architecture or technical leadership roles within enterprise client-facing environments.
• Proven domain knowledge and architecture experience in the Retail sector (Store Technology, Merchandising, or Omnichannel).
• Deep technical expertise in Microservices architecture using Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing Event-Driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
• Solid understanding of modern web frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
• Architectural experience with Point of Sale (POS) and store-level systems.
• Practical experience applying AI-first / AI-native development workflows and AI-assisted coding tools across the SDLC.
• Proven ability to translate client business needs into concrete technical solutions, detailed work estimates, and compelling proposals.
• Strong executive communication, presentation, and technical leadership skills.

Would be a plus

• Experience with advanced AI developer tooling (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate team delivery.
• Background in large-scale legacy migration to cloud-native retail microservices.
• Hands-on knowledge of SRE best practices, observability, and performance tuning for high-traffic retail events.
