This role is part of the Shared Services Center (SSC) and will serve as the dedicated Finance Business Partner to the Marketing function. The position will ensure accurate and complete accounting of marketing expenses, including accruals, prepaids, and commitments, while maintaining strong financial controls and budget governance within a centralized operating model.
The individual will oversee month-, quarter-, and year-end marketing close activities, implement scalable processes, strengthen internal controls, enhance visibility over marketing commitments and spend efficiency, and drive automation across SSC processes supporting Marketing. This person must be hands-on, detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly international environment while balancing operational excellence with business partnership.
- Manage marketing expense accounting including accruals, prepaids, commitments, reconciliations, and internal controls in compliance with U.S. GAAP and local GAAP requirements.
- Own month-, quarter-, and year-end close for marketing-related expenses, ensuring completeness and accuracy of accruals, amortization of prepaids, GRIR reconciliation, and vendor balance reviews.
- Drive budget governance by monitoring marketing spend versus approved budgets, validating PR/POs, tracking commitments, and highlighting overages or risks proactively.
- Develop rolling forecasts and variance analysis for marketing costs, partnering closely with Marketing leadership to align campaign timing and financial impact.
- Design and implement scalable processes and automation to improve the procure-to-pay cycle for marketing vendors while maintaining a strong controls environment.
- Partner with Marketing, Procurement, Legal, and IT teams to ensure proper contract review, expense classification, accounting treatment, and compliance with internal policies.
- Support SOX compliance by maintaining strong documentation and internal controls over marketing expense processes, focusing on data completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure timely and clean audits related to marketing expenses, accruals, and prepaid accounting.
- 10–12 years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership roles within public or high-growth private company environments.
- CA / CPA required.
- Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, prepaid expense treatment, and period-end financial controls.
- Experience working in ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar) and exposure to P2P workflows.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, automation, and systems optimization.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior non-finance leaders.
