Lead AI Engineer

We are seeking a Lead AI Engineer to drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge AI solutions, with a strong focus on Generative AI and Agentic AI. In this role, you will combine hands-on technical leadership with strategic vision—architecting scalable AI systems, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions from concept to production.

Essential functions

• Architecture & Technical Leadership: Lead software development projects end-to-end, defining AI system architecture while staying hands-on with implementation alongside the team.
• Engineering Excellence & Mentorship: Set technical direction, establish engineering best practices, and mentor engineers across the team.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with business and product stakeholders to align technical strategy with strategic goals, acting as a translator between technical and non-technical teams.
• Production Delivery: Deliver enterprise AI/ML solutions from proof-of-concept (POC) to production, ensuring continuous improvements, system reliability, and long-term support.
• Innovation with Pragmatism: Stay ahead of AI industry trends, integrating emerging technologies like Agentic AI, custom guardrails, and fine-tuning while maintaining operational pragmatism.

Qualifications

• Production AI Experience: 5+ years of professional experience developing and scaling production-grade AI/ML systems.
• Leadership Background: 2+ years of proven team lead experience working within Agile engineering environments.
• Python Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Python and its ecosystem across AI/ML, web services, and data engineering.
• Deep LLM & GenAI Mastery: Expertise in open/closed-source LLMs, advanced prompt engineering, RAG, Agentic AI, vector/hybrid search, document processing, guardrails, LLM evaluation, and monitoring/observability.
• Cloud & ML Platforms: Solid experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and associated ML managed services (e.g., Vertex AI, SageMaker).
• Communication & Stakeholder Management: Outstanding verbal and written English communication skills, with a track record of leading client and stakeholder discussions.

Would be a plus

• Full-Stack & End-to-End Systems: Practical experience extending beyond AI/ML into frontend, backend, data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD automation.
• Deep Learning Frameworks: Hands-on experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, NLP, or Computer Vision.
