We are looking for an HR Generalist who is experienced, compliance-driven, and exceptionally skilled in employee relations to join our HR team in Malaysia as part of our broader APAC HR network. The best candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and exceptionally dynamic setting and is excited to manage comprehensive HR operations, lead complex employee relations matters, and ensure full compliance with Malaysian and regional APAC employment regulations.
Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor laws, employee relations practices, and regional APAC compliance frameworks are essential, along with experience in progressive HR generalist roles with a demonstrated track record in dispute resolution, grievance management, and employment litigation. The ability to serve as a knowledgeable and dependable HR resource across APAC markets, stepping in to support local HR teams when needed, while maintaining deep expertise in Malaysian ER and compliance as the primary scope will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities
Core HR Operations:
Administer compensation & benefits programs, payroll coordination, and HR analytics reporting
Develop and update HR policies in compliance with Malaysian labor laws, regulations, and regional APAC standards where applicable
Conduct employee training sessions on HR policies, compliance, and workplace ethics
Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data management
Provide HR operational support across APAC, ensuring continuity and compliance across the region
Other general HR tasks
Employee Relations & Compliance:
Serve as the primary contact for employee relations matters in Malaysia, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes
Investigate and resolve complex employee grievances, workplace conflicts, and disciplinary matters with sensitivity and sound judgment
Manage employment litigation processes including document preparation, evidence collection, and court representation coordination
Advise management on Malaysian labor law compliance, employee relations best practices, and risk mitigation strategies
Collaborate with legal counsel on employment-related lawsuits and mediation proceedings
Monitor regulatory updates across Malaysia and maintain working knowledge of employment law developments across key APAC markets
Actively support and advise APAC local HR teams on compliance and ER matters, serving as a regional resource across multiple markets
Labor Relations & Dispute Resolution:
Lead mediation and negotiation efforts to resolve workplace disputes constructively and in line with legal requirements
Promote consistent application of HR policies and compliance standards across the organization
Provide guidance on disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and grievance procedures
Employee Engagement:
Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends to surface actionable insights
Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives
Partner with management to strengthen employee relations and drive a culture of fairness and accountability
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of proven HR generalist experience, with a minimum of 2 years in employee and labor relations
Expert knowledge of Malaysian labor laws, employment regulations, and dispute resolution procedures
Proven experience working across APAC markets, with hands-on knowledge of employment regulations in at least 2-3 APAC jurisdictions beyond Malaysia
Demonstrated ability to support and advise HR operations across multiple APAC countries
Successful track record in handling employment litigation cases and complex employee relations matters
Proficiency in HRIS systems
Strong mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Malay and English
High level of discretion, integrity, and sound judgment in handling sensitive HR matters
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively across a regional context
