Description
Muse Group is hiring a Group Finance Director to build and scale the next generation of its global Finance organization. This is a hands-on builder and operator role. The mandate is to create a Finance function that delivers reliable execution, practical insight, strong controls, clear cash visibility, and greater operating leverage across the company.
This role sits at the intersection of Finance, systems, AI, and business execution. You will own the execution and delivery of the Finance work required to support Muse’s commercial ambition and enterprise governance. You will build the Finance domain within Muse Operating System, strengthen the function from the bottom up, and make the company easier to run as it scales.
This role is open for candidates from UK or Cyprus.
Key responsibilities
- Lead global Finance execution across accounting, controllership, treasury, tax, reporting, Finance operations, Finance systems, and business support.
- Build the Finance domain within MuseOS using AI agents, automation, workflow redesign, source-of-truth discipline, and scalable decision-support systems.
- Own the delivery of accurate and timely accounting, close, reconciliations, statutory reporting, management reporting, tax, audit support, lender reporting, and Finance operations.
- Build reliable cash visibility, treasury execution, working-capital reporting, and capital-allocation analysis.
- Translate commercial plans into statutory P&L, cash, working-capital, capital, and execution implications.
- Provide independent analysis that surfaces risks, tests assumptions, identifies trade-offs, and ensures executive decisions are grounded in financial reality.
- Anticipate business needs and remove friction across reporting, approvals, financial visibility, process design, controls, and decision support.
- Improve Finance systems, data quality, reporting consistency, and process scalability across Muse’s digital subscriptions, print and distribution, licensing, royalties, and MI businesses.
- Build, develop, and support a high-performing global Finance team with clear ownership, strong execution discipline, business acumen, and AI fluency.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of AI-enabled workflows, automation, modern operating systems, and how technology increases organizational leverage.
- Track record building scalable operating models, simplifying complexity, reducing manual work, and improving business performance.
- Strong business judgment and ability to translate financial information into clear operating decisions.
- Senior Finance leadership experience in a complex, multi-entity, international business.
- Strong foundation across accounting, controllership, financial reporting, controls, FP&A, treasury, tax, and Finance operations.
- Experience improving Finance processes, systems, reporting cadence, controls, business support, and execution discipline.
- Experience partnering effectively with executive teams and business leaders.
- Track record building teams, developing strong leaders, and increasing output without simply adding headcount.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in high-growth technology, software, subscription, publishing, licensing, royalties, inventory, distribution, or similarly complex business models.
- Experience in a private equity-backed, founder-led, or similarly demanding ownership environment.
- Experience with Finance transformation, ERP modernization, data foundations, automation, AI-enabled workflows, or operating model redesign.
- Experience supporting M&A modeling, diligence, integration, or post-close tracking.
- Experience with NetSuite, Coupa, HighRadius, Workday Adaptive Planning, or comparable systems.
- CPA, ACA, ACCA, MBA, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working in a remote-first or internationally distributed company.
