About the Position
We are looking for an Engineering Lead / Technical Team Lead to join our dedicated engineering chapter within a long term modernization program. The Engineering Lead owns end to end technical delivery for a program workstream, from architectural decisions through production release. You are the primary technical point of contact for engineering stakeholders and the person responsible for setting and enforcing engineering standards within your squad.
The role requires working from the office three days per week. The candidate should be based in either Cluj Napoca or Bucharest.
About the Project
DataArt is assisting the client with replatforming critical real time market data distribution infrastructure on Kubernetes and AWS. The program spans multiple workstreams and years, with DataArt squads embedded directly within client product delivery teams alongside client architects and program governance stakeholders.
About the Team
Teams are distributed across the EU, working either fully remotely or in a hybrid model. Scrum and scaled Agile practices are used throughout the program.
Responsibilities
- Define the target state architecture for the assigned workstream and guide the squad toward it incrementally.
- Set and enforce engineering standards, including code quality gates, peer reviews, CI/CD practices, secure SDLC processes, and SBOM management.
- Drive the refactoring of legacy components into maintainable modern services.
- Mentor senior engineers, conduct design reviews, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
- Produce tangible evidence of engineering adoption, including dashboards, quality metrics, and knowledge transfer artifacts.
- Act as the primary technical liaison for engineering stakeholders and program governance teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands on software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a Technical Lead or Architect role.
- Experience with Java (Spring Boot or Micronaut) or C#/.NET, with Python experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling.
- Experience with real time and event driven systems, including Kafka, WebSockets, and high throughput data pipelines.
- Experience with AWS services, including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, Aurora/RDS, S3, Step Functions, and CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins, including automated quality gates.
- Experience with secure engineering practices, including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, SBOM management, and secrets management.
- Proficient English for technical communication (B2+).
Nice to Have
- Financial services or capital markets domain experience.
- Scaled Agile or SAFe experience in enterprise environments.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and Prometheus.
