DevOps Tech Lead
Grid Dynamics is looking for a DevOps Tech Lead/Architect to join the project team at a Fortune 500 home goods retailer. This is a mandate-driven role: you'll form and push through a roadmap of DevOps improvements across the account, starting hands-on to build credibility and context before growing into a broader architectural role spanning multiple projects. We're looking for someone who can shape direction, not just execute tickets — strategic judgment matters here as much as any specific tool on the list below.
Essential functions
- Form an opinion on the DevOps roadmap for the account and drive it through, working across multiple project teams
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Groovy shared pipeline libraries) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/TFE)
- Manage GCP cloud resources, including IAM, networking, and cost optimization (FinOps)
- Set up and maintain monitoring/observability (Grafana, Loki, Prometheus) and support the team in troubleshooting
- Stay hands-on with automation scripting (Python, Bash) while building toward a broader architectural and strategic role
- Document key decisions (ADRs) and collaborate closely with the team via Slack, Jira, and Confluence
Qualifications
Soft Skills/Conditions:
- Strong communication skills; able to represent DevOps direction and trade-offs to the team and stakeholders
- Comfortable owning and pushing an improvement roadmap forward, not just executing assigned tickets
- Available to work extended hours into the evening (until ~8–9 PM Kyiv time) for real-time overlap with the California-based client
Hard Skills:
- Deep DevOps expertise across CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud platforms
- Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including IAM and networking
- Terraform / Terraform Enterprise for infrastructure as code
- Experience with Jenkins and Groovy-based shared pipeline libraries
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Monitoring/observability tooling — Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, or equivalent
- Scripting proficiency in Python and/or Bash for automation
Would be a plus
- Experience with Flask/SQLAlchemy or similar Python web frameworks
- Helm for Kubernetes package management
- Oracle DB / SQL experience
- FinOps / cloud cost optimization background
- Prior experience architecting DevOps practices across multiple teams or projects within one account
- Retail/e-commerce domain experience
