We are seeking a Database Administrator to manage and enhance our MS SQL environments, supporting legacy systems and modernization efforts.
This role involves administering MS SQL 2016 and newer, with a focus on T-SQL, installation, performance optimization, clustering and availability groups.
Responsibilities
- Identify and size new servers with input from stakeholders
- Install, configure and upgrade SQL Server software and associated products
- Apply SQL patches upon release
- Ensure system health and database availability while addressing downtime promptly
- Uphold security access to databases and servers, adhering to least privilege principles
- Verify backup solutions align with current RTO and RPO targets
- Evaluate server and database performance, including index maintenance, consistency checks and log capacity monitoring
- Restore non-production environments from backups as needed
- Support third-party vendors during patch deployment or system installations
- Coordinate with teams to resolve SQL Server performance bottlenecks
- Aid non-IT staff in addressing challenges related to database programming
- Handle DBA-related service desk requests
- Support MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI environments when necessary
- Automate administrative processes to reduce manual efforts
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with MS SQL Server 2016 and newer
- Expertise in T-SQL, installation, performance optimization and cluster/availability group management
- Knowledge of advanced SQL Server functionalities like Columnstore, querystore, extended events and partitioning
- Skills in analyzing query execution plans and diagnosing wait statistics
- Background in multi-site availability groups and clustering
- Proficiency in Cohesity and CommVault SQL backups for availability groups
- Capability to automate DBA tasks with T-SQL and PowerShell
- Familiarity with SCOM and ITIL documentation standards
- Experience with MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI environments
- English level of B2 or higher
