About the Position
The Data Governance Lead (AWS) is a hands-on consulting role that bridges governance strategy with practical AWS technical delivery. You will define and execute enterprise Data Governance capabilities, establish operating models, and drive adoption across business, technology, and security leadership.
About the Project
Designing, establishing, and deploying scalable enterprise-wide Data Governance frameworks on AWS-native data platforms to deliver secure, trusted, and AI-ready data environments for client organizations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of enterprise Data Governance solutions and operating models on AWS platforms.
- Deliver end-to-end governance capabilities including metadata management, cataloging, lineage, data quality, RBAC/ABAC security, and access controls.
- Facilitate discovery workshops with senior business and technical stakeholders to establish pragmatic implementation roadmaps.
- Embed governance practices into engineering workflows, DataOps, and client AI initiatives.
- Serve as the principal governance authority throughout delivery engagements.
- Support presales activities through solution design, effort estimation, and executive client presentations.
- Develop reusable governance frameworks, reference architectures, and accelerators to enhance delivery capability.
- Mentor architects and engineers on data governance best practices and emerging AWS capabilities.
Requirements
- 5+ years in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Architecture, with proven leadership in enterprise governance programs.
- Strong delivery experience on AWS-native data platforms using services such as AWS Glue Data Catalog, Lake Formation, IAM, S3, Redshift, and Athena.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Atlan, Alation, or OpenMetadata).
- Strong comprehension of modern data architectures (lakes/lakehouses, streaming, ETL/ELT, dbt, Spark, data products) and core governance frameworks (data contracts, lineage, classification, regulatory compliance).
- Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder alignment skills, with a track record of supporting consulting discovery, solution design, and presales.
Nice to Have
- Experience governing AI and Machine Learning solutions, including Amazon Bedrock.
- Knowledge of Data Mesh, domain-driven design, DAMA-DMBOK, or Master Data Management (MDM).
- Active AWS Certifications (e.g., Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Security Specialization).
- Experience establishing Data Governance Centers of Excellence (CoE).
- Domain experience within the Betting & Gaming sector, including regulated environments, fraud, AML/KYC, and real-time operational platforms.
