We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Chief Accountant to join our Armenia office and strengthen our finance function. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex accounting and tax matters in a fast-paced international environment.
The Chief Accountant will manage a team of three accounting professionals and act as the key liaison between local operations and corporate finance functions.
Responsibilities
- Organize and manage the in-house tax accounting and IFRS financial reporting functions in compliance with Armenian legislation and internal corporate policies
- Lead and supervise a team of three accountants responsible for: payroll and related taxes and social contributions; fixed assets accounting and depreciation; accounts receivable, accounts payable, and expense reporting
- Ensure the timely and accurate recording of all transactions in the 1C accounting system
- Review accounting and financial documents for compliance with Armenian tax and accounting regulations
- Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements and statistical reports, including withholding tax, VAT, export of services, and import operations
- Oversee payroll calculations, including sick leave, bonuses, and related tax compliance
- Ensure the proper execution of SOX controls and prepare payroll reconciliation reports
- Review tax aspects of contracts and provide support for minimizing tax risks
- Act as the company's representative during tax inspections and annual financial statement audits
- Provide supporting documents and explanations to internal and external auditors
- Collaborate closely with corporate US GAAP reporting, corporate payroll, and other corporate finance and compliance teams
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of financial and payroll data to corporate functions
- Participate in the automation and digitalization of accounting and payroll processes, ensuring their alignment with Armenian legal and regulatory requirements
- Lead the improvement and implementation of internal accounting systems and workflows
- Work cross-functionally with departments such as IT, Personnel, and HR to ensure data accuracy, process efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Develop, implement, and update local accounting and financial policies and procedures
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including managerial experience
- Valid professional certificate of an accountant or auditor in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Accounting”
- Strong knowledge of tax legislation
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Proven experience in leading and developing accounting teams
- Working knowledge of 1C, SAP, and other ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High level of responsibility and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and make sound professional decisions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement and automation
- English proficiency at B2+ level or higher
- Armenian fluency
