The Exness Engineering Bootcamp is a multi-rotational engineering program designed for high-potential Middle Engineers who want to gain first-hand experience across different products, teams and engineering domains at Exness before making a long-term team decision. Through real engineering work, mentorship and exposure to multiple areas of the business, participants build a deeper understanding of where their skills, interests and strengths can create the greatest impact.
The Backend Software Engineer focuses on implementing features and maintaining backend services under the guidance of more senior engineers. The role emphasizes writing clean and reliable code, learning best practices, and steadily building expertise in high-load systems and microservices. The engineer contributes to product delivery, actively improves their skills, and supports team success by following established standards and processes.
This opportunity is based in our Limassol, Cyprus office, and is open to candidates currently living in Cyprus.
What you'll actually do
- Consistently deliver core product features that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Write clean, secure, efficient code, perform thorough testing and debugging, and ensure seamless integration with other components while optimizing for scalability and addressing technical debt.
- Write well-documented code and automation tests with strong coverage.
- Meets company standards.
- Drive improvements to service latency, fault tolerance, and resilience in high-load environments.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
- Apply clean code principles and best engineering practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for beneficial adoption.
- Turn retro items into actions and reduce tech debt in small steps.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of backend software development experience in Python.
- Experience with high-load, concurrency, and multithreading backend systems.
- Microservice development experience.
- Preferred: Experience in financial/market-based software development or distributed systems
- Strong skills in building reliable and scalable services (design, APIs, storage, testing, CI/CD).
- Solid knowledge of modern development practices (version control, reviews, branching, releases).
- Solid experience with ORM and DBMS, including database architecture.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, system design, and integration patterns.
- Solid experience with DevOps tools and practices: operating systems, monitoring, networking models, virtualization, and containerization.
- Experience in software testing: unit, integration, and load tests.
- Experience in debugging, profiling, and code optimizations.
- English level B2+.
