Description
We are looking for a commercially sharp, relationship-driven Strategic Account Manager to own Hal Leonard's most important customer partnerships. Reporting to Global B2B Sales Lead, this newly created role gives our top 4–5 strategic accounts — a significant share of Hal Leonard's US B2B revenue — the dedicated focus a broader territory portfolio can't provide.
The ideal candidate has a track record building executive-level relationships, a disciplined approach to account planning, and a genuine interest in what drives a customer's business. This is a chance to build a strategic function from scratch, deepening our footprint with key accounts while freeing the wider sales team to grow new business.

Key responsibilities
- Own and develop relationships with the company's 4–5 largest strategic accounts.
- Act as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers.
- Build trusted relationships with senior buying, merchandising and commercial stakeholders.
- Conduct regular customer visits and executive business reviews.
- Maintain full visibility of customer strategy, opportunities and risks.
- Develop annual business plans for each strategic account.
- Establish revenue baseline and growth headroom.
- Lead day-to-day commercial negotiations within agreed delegation boundaries.
- Work closely with: Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Service, Operations to ensure strong customer execution.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience managing Strategic or Key Accounts.
- Experience within one or more of: Music Industry, Music Publishing, Musical Instruments. Pro Audio, Consumer Products, Distribution, Retail.
- Strong commercial negotiation experience.
- Proven ability to manage high-value customer relationships.
- Experience developing annual business plans.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability.
- CRM experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
